Frisco (Tex.) Centennial quarterback Ryan Mossakowski (6-4, 210) signed with the Wildcats back in November and is known for his superb arm strength and decision making in the pocket. Mossakowski is recovering from a torn labrum he suffered last season and is considering playing baseball at Kentucky as well.
How's the shoulder?
It's doing really well. I went to physical therapy today and he said I'm looking pretty good. I'll be up there pretty soon.

You suffered a torn labrum in your throwing arm. How painful was that?

It was pretty painful. I tore it the third game of the year and played two games with it torn. I told coach I could barely lift my arm. They went in and looked at it and 270 out of the 360 degrees of it was torn so 3/4s of it was torn but it could have been a lot worse.

You're a quarterback. You throw for a living so a torn labrum is pretty serious stuff. Were you scared it might affect your career?

For a day or so. I talked to Coach (Randy) Sanders and Coach (Larry) Brinson and Coah (Rich) Brooks and they told me Will Fidler tore his labrum and they said he was back to normal.
How often do you keep in contact with the coaches?

I keep it contact with Coach Brinson and Coach Sanders. Coach Brinson was my recruiting coach and Coach Sanders is my position coach. I talk to them once a week. I definitely keep in touch with them.
When are you planning on heading to Lexington?

My last day of school is June 4 and I leave here on June 8.
You excited to get up there?

It's been driving me crazy. I'm so excited. They're a great group of guys and coaching staff. I can barely contain my emotions. It's going to be a blast.

Are you still planning on trying to play baseball at Kentucky?
Yes. I'm playing for our high school team right now. My doctor gave me the okay to DH. I'm perfectly fine. I got my hand-eye coordination back. But it's going to depend on how football plays out. I talked to the coaches and they said it's cool. I'll just play it by ear. I'd probably play right field. (UK Baseball Coach Gary Henderson) knows I'm thinking about it and that I want to.
If it came down to one, which sport would you play?

It'd be the one I enjoy more. My favorite sport is whatever season it is. I'm would have to re-evaluate and make that decision.

With yourself, Mike Hartline, Morgan Newton and Will Fidler, there's going to be a nice little quarterback competition in the fall.

I'm excited about it. There's a nice circle. It's all going to make us better, which is what you want. It's a win-win. That's one of the reasons why I picked Kentucky.

Describe your relationship with Morgan Newton.
I've been up there to the spring game and to three or four spring practices. I talked to him multiple times and he's a great guy and he's a good athlete.
What are your strengths at the quarterback position?

My strengths are reading defenses and making quick decisions in the pocket. I'm not the fastest guy so I rely on my arm strength a lot. I'm a pocket passer. I'm a leader on and off the field and that's big at the quarterback spot. I'm a playmaker.
